Our Mission

Developing the Complete Scientific Entrepreneur

FAS Biocamp is building Africa's next generation of innovators who combine scientific excellence with entrepreneurial vision. We're creating a pipeline of leaders who can translate science into ventures that drive continental impact in healthcare, agriculture, and biotechnology.

Scientific & Technical Excellence

Deep expertise in biotechnology, genomics, diagnostics, therapeutics, or agricultural innovation. The ability to identify critical problems and envision practical pathways from discovery to market solutions tailored for African contexts.

Strategic & Ethical Leadership

The foundation of trust, collaboration, and long-term impact. We value ethical decision-making, transparent leadership under pressure, and commitment to building solutions that genuinely serve Africa's needs.

Venture Execution & Resilience

Evidence of building things—not just ideas. Demonstrated experience creating, iterating, and persisting through challenges. We value learning velocity, adaptive thinking, and strategic pivoting over perfect initial concepts.

The Biocamp Experience

Four Pillars of Transformation

An intensive 14-day program simulating 19 months of venture development. Each pillar is designed to test and develop the complete scientific entrepreneur through real-world challenges and expert mentorship.

01

Learn & Strategize

Introduction to advanced biotechnology frameworks, venture strategy, regulatory landscapes, and commercialization pathways from global pioneers and African success stories.

02

Build & Experiment

Use our prebuilt learning labs as sandboxes for hands-on development of proof-of-concept solutions with real-world constraints, technical challenges, and validation requirements.

03

Pivot & Adapt

Execute strategic pivots based on rigorous feedback, market data, and technical validation. Your learning velocity—the ability to adapt—is more important than your initial concept.

04

Pitch

Present to an expert panel at the Capstone Summit for validation and selection to advanced fellowship

What We're Looking For

The Builder Mindset: Beyond Academic Excellence

We're looking for people who go beyond traditional metrics. While scientific excellence is important, we prioritize the combination of technical depth, entrepreneurial vision, and character-driven leadership. We're open to exceptional talent from all backgrounds.

01

Scientific Depth & Vision

Proficiency in biotechnology, genomics, diagnostics, therapeutics, or agricultural innovation. The ability to identify critical problems in African healthcare or agriculture and envision practical pathways from laboratory discovery to market solutions. We value both depth in a specific area and the ability to think across disciplines.

02

Entrepreneurial Grit

Evidence of building things—not just ideas, but demonstrated experience creating, iterating, and persisting through challenges. We value learning velocity, adaptive thinking, and strategic pivoting over perfect initial concepts. Show us what you've built, failed at, and learned from.

03

Character & Integrity

The foundation of trust, collaboration, and long-term impact. We look for ethical decision-making, strong team dynamics, transparency under pressure, and commitment to building solutions that serve continental needs. Your character matters as much as your capabilities.

Open to Exceptional Talent

While we typically work with candidates who have advanced degrees (PhD, MD, MSc) or equivalent research experience, we recognize that extraordinary talent comes in many forms. If you have exceptional scientific insight, proven entrepreneurial capability, and deep commitment to Africa's bioeconomy—regardless of your formal credentials—we encourage you to apply. Your character and ability to execute matter more than traditional qualifications alone. So exceptional Graduates are welcome to apply.

Path to the Fellowship

A rigorous, multi-stage selection process designed to identify Africa's most promising scientific entrepreneurs. Each stage evaluates technical excellence, entrepreneurial potential, and Builder characteristics.
